It might not surprise you to learn that there are 2.5 million home intrusions reported every year. Home intrusions have been happening since human beings started having homes. It might surprise to learn, however, that nine out of ten burglars will not go near homes that have security systems in place. In fact, they said they wouldn’t even go near the place if they discovered surveillance systems or any kind of alarms.
In 2013 alone, there were losses due to property theft that totaled $16.6 billion, and these were the robberies that were reported. Most home intrusions occur during the middle of the day when families or individuals are out of the house. The most popular hours for intrusion are between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Without any kind of video surveillance system in place, there is usually not enough physical evidence for police to be able to solve the crime. Also, because of the hours of the day, there are very often no witnesses to the crimes.
Security systems provide a safety net for your house against the oftentimes blatant attempts to break in and steal the things that are the most valuable to you. Home security is designed to keep out home invaders when you are away from home, but, obviously, they are much more than that.
Home security systems are also meant to keep home intruders away from your home when you are there, as well. Not everyone is gone between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. It is sometimes the case when a burglar might be scoping your home for some time and he comes to the conclusion you will be away. But, when he begins to break into your house, you stir from your sleep and could interrupt the break-in.
Having security systems in place that would first deter an intruder and if not deter then definitely notify the authorities that someone is in your home will make you feel more secure about you safety than you would otherwise.
Surveillance system installation might not be the severe expense you might have believed it to be. Keeping you and your family safe is the top priority. You never know when you might be the next number that comes up. You never know who might be watching your home from a distance, making plans to come in and steal the things you love. You won’t know who is watching. You won’t know that they have been planning until you come home one day and find your materials missing.
But with a home security system in place, you might not even get to the point where the thief attempts to break in and steal from you. Once they see security cameras in place and evidence of security systems, they go right by your home to the one they feel is more vulnerable.
